Representation;
The CSEA Orange County Unit will represent members who have a grievance, or are facing an investigation or discipline.

Grievances:
A grievance may be filed when managers violate or misinterpret the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Typical grievances include being assigned work not in your job title without compensation, not getting night differentials you may be due, payroll or overtime problems, or health and safety issues. Please read your contact book for other type of grievances.
If you need a contract book call the union office.

The initial state (Step I) can be handled by any Grievance Representative.

Steps II, are assisted by a representative from the Region 3 office, a LRS and your Grievance Representative will appear with you and help you prepare your case.

If your grievance is still not settled, the next step is a request for an Arbitration Hearing .The LRS will request a demand with CSEA Legal. If the case is accepted than an attorney from CSEA Legal Department would then be assigned to represent you.

Disciplinary Charges;
The CSEA members have a right to representation at any formal or informal meeting where disciplinary charges may be brought. What may seem to be a friendly talk with an investigator or supervisor may turn out to be more than you bargained for. The union recommends that you call your Grievance representative for assistance with any kind of inquiry.

Counseling Letter;
This is not a form of discipline, but it can be used against you in the future. Please write a formal response and submitted to your supervisor. If you need assistance call the Executive Board or a Grievance Representative.

Please save all Doctor Notes, E mails or any type of written documentation that you have turned over to your Supervisor, Department or Personnel.
